Club History
The club we know today as Plenty Valley Lions Football Club was the brainchild of a group of second generation Australians that were drawn together by their their passion for the world game.
This group of passionate football loving friends formed the club with the aim of providing local football players with the opportunity to display their skills and passion in a friendly and team orientated environment.
On the 19th May 1999 the club was registered under the name ‘Lerin F.C’ with the Amateur Soccer Federation of Victoria. Lerin F.C, as it was known in the amateur leagues, played its first game at the rear of Thomastown Secondary College in late 1999 before moving to I.W. Dole Reserve in Reservoir in April 2000.
In 2003, the club entered the Victorian Soccer Federation (now FFV) and registered the name Plenty Valley Lions F.C as a way of depicting the local Plenty Valley region. The club moved to Bundoora Park Pavilion in 2005, then to L.E Cotchin reserve, Reservoir in 2009. In early 2010 the club successfully lobbied the city of Whittlesea and was successful in it's bid to secure its current home ground at Sycamore reserve, Hawkes drive Mill Park.
The Plenty Valley Lions Football Club has marched on an amazing journey in its brief 7 year history. The club has delivered successive Championship victories and a host of promotions that has resulted in its rapid rise through the ranks of the amateur leagues and provisional leagues, as it now prepares to compete in the State League 3 division in 2007. PVLFC's success is also attributed by the growth in the number of junior squads, which has grown to seven teams ranging from U8 to U16 for boys and girls. The club proudly fields a diverse range of Junior and Senior players from all backgrounds and welcomes anyone who has a love for football. In 2010, PVLFC will for the first time in its history field a womens team to compliment Junior and Senior elements.
Plenty Valley Lions Football Club prides itself on being a locally based community orientated family club.
